Hello and welcome back! We are on week number two of the Horror House Flash Fiction Contest. I’m hoping that we’ll get double the participation this time around, but the turnout from last week was still fantastic.
This week’s prompt is this: “Where is your reality? Do you know where you are?” I found this old thing while deleting useless clutter on my laptop. Do what you will with it. It seems sort of sci-fi, so maybe I’ll be seeing that as a common genre for this prompt? Who knows!
In this contest, the maximum amount of words I will allow is 450. Minimum is 5. You can submit your entries in this comment section or even put a link of the piece from your blog in the comments, and I will decide on a winner the next Tuesday—the day before the prompt starts over again. Everyone’s entries will be included in a separate post, aside from the winner.
You can make it into any genre you want, you can use explicit language, violence, horror and gore. But please nothing discriminatory, racist, sexist, homophobic, anti-semitic, prejudice or harmful/demeaning to a group of people.
Have fun with it, and happy writing!

Good idea for a flash fiction contest but I am slightly confused — does it have to be horror?

Nope, not at all. The Horror House title is in name only. As said, you can make the prompt into any genre you want. 🙂

How did I get here?
Being lost is normal for me because I move around so much. I often wake up and ask myself, “Where the hell am I?” It’s not a scary feeling. I’m also lost when driving.
One time I was trying to find my way to a friend’s house and had to stop to look at a map. A man with the bluest eyes I’ve ever seen was suddenly outside of my car and asked me if I was ok. I said,” I’m fine. Is there a place I can get lunch around here?”
He looked at me like he was afraid of me! Then I saw a lot more people behind him just standing there, not moving. I had the feeling I didn’t belong there.
I said, “Darn it, I’m in the land of the dead again.” They don’t have any fast food places.

Wow, this is an excellent take on the prompt. I have to admit, the ending shocked me a little (didn’t see it coming from the progression of the story at the start) and made me laugh. That was a combination of mystery and humor.
Fantastic work here!

A sinister piece of fiction, I’m curious of the significance of the bells but reluctant to ruin the mystique by asking haha
Very enjoyable piece, well done 🙂

Haha, I had fun with this one. I don’t even know if this relates to the prompt that much because I sorta went off on a tangent, but here it is:
