the moon is
phallus-shaped
to split leaves—
are falling to my hands;
throats of autumnal death,
I kiss your hands.

I think that darkness and death is close to erotica… after all, it’s called “the little death” for a reason

Hahaha! Yes, that is true. La petite mort.

I always liked the word phallus. I am a bit of a perv, but it also sounds so scientific and you can use it in ordinary life, and not everyone will get what the heck you are saying. They might just agree with you, and not have a clue you mean a male errmm.. extension. Having a bad day at work.. tell your boss to add some phallus to their diet – HAHAHA.

There’s nothing wrong with that and I support this 100%. A few off the top of my head (HA):
“Go phallus yourselves.”
“Shove a phallus up there, would you?”
“Shut your phallus.”
“Tastes like… phallus, what do you think?”
“Just add phallus to the soup. It’s an enriching ingredient with many nutrients.”
I think I’m a bit of a perv too…

Autumnal death is what i think of the shape of your moon. As Bjorn said, it is a little bit like death.

I can’t get past “the moon is phallus shaped”. For some reason it makes me think of autumn and phalling leaves! (Sorry, couldm’t resist!). Seriously, your poetry never fails to leave me mentally challenged, Lucy.

Hahaha! Nice one, Beverly. I’m really glad you liked that line. I don’t believe I have ever used “phallus” in a poem before despite always wanting to, and thanks to the prompt, I can finally cross that one off my list.
Thank you so much for your feedback. It means a lot!

“I kiss your hands”…is a line I found so stirring ❤
It makes me think of Mr Thornton and Miss Hale

Thank you so much. ❤ ❤ I’m biased to that line admittedly, especially with this piece being an erotic poem, I had to add some display of intimacy. I’m glad you enjoyed it!

Fantastic concise piece Lucy. So like the overlay of images – the leaves and ‘falling to my hands’, both sexual and oddly sad at the same time.

Thank you, Peter. I was really hoping to communicate those themes of sadness and sex, and I’m glad it could be conveyed in this piece. Thank you for your feedback! 😀
