My poem, “When I am laid in the Earth”, appeared in the July 18th, 2021 Serendipity issue of Devika’s My Valiant Soul Newsletter. I am elated about this and I thank you Devika for accepting my work in your issue.
You can read the newsletter issue here (poem included).
Be sure to subscribe to My Valiant Soul if you haven’t already, and I’m proud my work appears in the newsletter of such a wonderful and talented poetess.
The poem’s title is taken from the opera Dido and Aeneas by Henry Purcell. Themes of life and death (surprise, surprise) appear as subtext in my piece, though at the end it is a little more succinct. With nature, there is always the topic of life, which then goes on the opposite spectrum of death. It also centers around the macrocosm and how we contribute to life on Earth.
Just thought I’d share a bit on my thoughts when I wrote this piece around a year ago.
As always, I appreciate your thoughts and feedback. I hope you can enjoy my poem, along with Joseph Marshall’s piece as well in this issue.
